A Rainy Day at the Speedway

May 14th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

Some of you may or may not know, but I have the privilege to work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I help gather driver quotes, and edit and post the audio on their website.

Last week sucked. The three days they ran, I was barely out there due to election stuff. Then the two days I could spend some time out there, it rained! Luckily, I was finally able the enjoy the Speedway and the 500 on Saturday. This week is not looker that great though.

I believe that a career should just be an examination of boyhood dreams. My love of radio began in May, listening to Bob and Tom, Donald Davidson, Dave the King Wilson, and the entire WIBC crew on the way home from Pratices, Qualifications, and the Race. As a kid, I idolized Donald and Tom Carnegie. My main career goals have been to replace either of them. (Damn you, Tom Calabro!)

So I will do my best to write quick updates live from the Media Center!

Tow Trucks are the only thing practicing here at the Motor Speedway. The heavy air is preventing cars from practicing. The track is essentially dry, but it is a fine mist. The drivers, the media, the crews, the track officials, the yellow shirts, the PA staff, etc… are all getting stir crazy. There has been so much time to sit, that the media has written all they can without action. The crews and drivers have gone over all the data they can without actually testing something.

Typically, the teams and everyone involved are ok with a day off for rain. It gives a chance for everyone to tie up loose ends and rest. But so far, we’ve only had two or three practice days out of 7 scheduled (including qualifying days.) I’ll have to ask Donald Davidson what the record for rain days is, but we may be on our way.

By this time last year, I was full pink with sunburn. Almost everyday was perfect, except rain day.

Maybe we will get some practice in today. But probably none today or tomorrow. Friday and the weekend don’t look great either.

With so many new teams and so little practice, look for a lot of lapping and wrecks on race day.

A Couple Stories to Check Out

What a waste of time: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/08/AR2008050802999_pf.html

This is really sad. I guess racisim is still pretty prevalent in Indiana: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/12/AR2008051203014.html?hpid%3Dtopnews&sub=AR

Another Libertarian Note

May 13th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

This note from Sean Shepard:

Hi there,
Sean Shepard has invited you to The Indianapolis Bob Barr For
President Meetup.

Sean Shepard says:
—————————————————————-
Bob Barr officially announced that he will seek the Libertarian
nomination for President of United States.  Thought we’d go
ahead and get an Indy MeetUp set-up for interested parties.

Initial MeetUp(s) will be 30 minutes before the regular monthly
libertarian meetup (which is always the best fun I have each
month).

Check This Out

May 13th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

I haven’t had a chance to watch this yet, but it seems like a video most of our audience would be interested in. This is a note from Melyssa Donaghy:

Greetings Friends,

I write to you only because I know you are liberty minded and can think independently.

I recently watched a documentary by Aaron Russo (producer of “The Rose” and “Trading Places”).

For a time he had a friendship with Nick Rockefeller, who arrogantly spilled his guts during several talks and was part of the inspiration for the documentary. Russo ended their “friendship” before he died of cancer in the fall of 2007. The documentary is linked on the HOOSIERS FOR FAIR TAXATION blog and is copyright free.  It is Aaron’s gift to the world. .

The documentary needs to be viewed, shared, and discussed in as many forums as possible, both on line and in real time.

Moreover, a plan for Indiana needs to be agreed upon.  We will need all our lawyers to step forward and work together and put politics, religion, and differences aside.

The cartel that owns the Federal Reserve want us to fight — dems, reps, libs, independents.  As long as we think these “issues” between the parties are all so important, we ignore the fact that the federal reserve is not controlled by our our government and that a cartel illegally controls the money. The scams are so deep, they are mind blowing. I hope by now you all understand that the feds are a private banking cartel intent to control the global population and its wealth. Have you heard?  They now own pretty much own all the mainstream media.

Bush is getting ready to sign the national ID card into law any minute now.  It will likely be done by Monday morning after he’s done with his daughter’s wedding in 90 degree Texas heat.  You will have to have this card and its RFID chip in order to travel. This is just the first step before the rest of the technology that already exists is implemented up to and including human micro-chipping.  We’re very close.

The Feds already have plans to put RFID chips in the cash very soon.  Have you noticed how much our currency is changing?  They can do RFID now as small as a grain of sand or a dot on an “i” printed on your cheap paper money.   Get ready to have your every move tracked.  It’s coming before you know it.  The more people focus on the divides between the reps, dems, and independents…the better they like it.  People divided, rather than united…that’s the goal for they are easier to conquer.

Read your history and learn the U.S. and Indiana Constitutions while there is a shred of them left.

Listen to guys like Andy Horning, Sean Shepard, RJ Tavel, Tim Maguire, Mike Kole, Ken Gividen, Mark Rutherford, Dan Drexler, Brad Klopfenstein, Ed Angleton, Steve Keltner, Todd Singer, Chris Spangle, Ken Morgan, and Dave Bond.  Better yet…help get some of them elected.

Every single one of us need to work together and look far beyond party affiliation.  What we unite to do for Indiana right now is critical.

The dudes behind the Federal Reserve don’t care which one of the three presidential candidates get elected.  So why do any of you?

In Faith,
Melyssa

HILLARY, It’s Over.

May 7th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

This race has been over for a while now. It officially ended yesterday. Everyone knows it. Except Hillary keeps going on. It’s a lot like this:

TURN YOUR KEY, HILLARY!

Somewhere, The Great Porn Dragon is Crying

May 7th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

People of the second district, we need to talk.

Maybe you don’t get Abdul in the Morning. Maybe your internet service provider doesn’t allow you to check HoosierAccess.com. Or it could be that your television does not get Countdown with Keith Olberman. Most likely it’s that you can’t read the South Bend Tribune.

With all that, I still would have hoped your friends or family would have given you the memo on Tony Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle is the slayer of the Great Porn Dragon. The man who went to Hitler’s birthday party thrown by Illinois Nazis. And the man who won 16% of the vote in the Republican Primary in the 2nd Congressional District…. WTF!?!

Almost 6,000 Republicans in the 2nd Congressional district voted for Tony Zirkle… WOW. I had been hoping that only Tony and those 58 Illinois Nazis believed this stuff, but I am amazed that 6,000 support those beliefs.

Either way, you’ve not voted for Tony Zirkle as your nominee, and the Great Porn Dragon is very happy with that situation.

No Dice

May 6th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

No dice… got advanced word on the way that it might make no sense…

What makes sense is that now that I called the race, all my mid-stream predictions are falling apart, lol.

I still think Hillary will take the Prez, and Andre has been called for 7th…

The Gubernatorial race is WAAAY too close to call. I smell a recount. I believe that it’s so close because both candidates are so bland and average.

Off to the Murat

May 6th, 2008 by spangle-wxnt

I am off to the Murat to try and get in. I am still at the Motor Speedway, where I work part-time in May. I have been live-blogging for you while doing the other gig…

But it is time for me to get out of here. I am hoping to get in the Murat Center, but I doubt it happens, since I am an hour late for Final Access… You will just have to listen in tomorrow morning to find out if I did!

Thanks, everyone.
